Ganoderma (Chinese: Ling Zhi, Japanese: Reishi)
The Ganoderma mushroom (Chinese: 灵芝 Ling zhi, Japanese: Reishi)
is well known in China and Japan. In fact, it is the most respected
tonic in Chinese herbalism. Ganoderma was first described in books in the
11th century, however, it has been used in folk medicine much longer.
Common Chinese names for Ganoderma translate as Spirit plant, plant of immortality, herb of spiritual potency, and ten-thousand year mushroom.
