DIOSCOREAE, Rhizoma (Chinese: Shan Yao) 山药

Dioscoreae or Chinese Yam root is a versatile herb commonly used in tonifying combinations. It can tonify the Qi and at the same time moisten the Kidneys and Lungs. It is commonly used for uro-genital symptoms such as nocturnal emissions, frequent urination, and leucorrhea. It can also help weak digestion.  It is sweet and gentle, and enters the Lung, Spleen, and Kidney meridians.

Packets can be taken singly or combined with other herbs to make a formula. Use one packet to four cups water. Drink 1-3 cups per day.
