Hordei Germinatus, Fried (Chinese: Chao Mai Ya)

Fried Hordei Germinatus is the dried germinated grains of Barley, Hordeum vulgare L. (family Graminae). Two types are available, fried (or charred) and unprocessed. The fried herb is used to improve digestion due to food stagnation and helping with the digestion of cereals or grains. It is also for breast tenderness and swelling associated with the discontinuation of nursing. Used by women who are discontinuing nursing, or for distended and painful breasts.
Packets can be taken singley or combined with other herbs to make a formula. Use one packet to four cups water. Drink 1-3 cups per day.
