Literal Name: Sour Jujube Decoction

Suanzaoren Tang is an ancient formula, discussed in Synopsis of the Golden Chamber by Zhang Zhong-Jing written during the Eastern Han Dynasty (circa 219AD). Nourishes blood, calms the spirit, clears heat, and stops uneasiness. Can be used by those who want a mild herbal relaxant or to help with sleeping. Also good for menopausal insomnia. Take two pills three times a day.

Contains: Seed of Spine date (Zizyphus spinosae), Lovage (Ligustici wallichii), Poria, Anemarrhenae, Licorice (Glycyrrhiza).

Formula Explanation:

Spine Date Seed (Zizyphus spinosae), the chief herb of this formula, nourishes Liver blood and calms Heart shen (spirit). 

Lovage (Ligustici wallichii) regulates Liver blood.

Poria tranquilizes the mind and calms the spirit.

Anemarrhenae nourishes yin and clears deficiency heat.

Licorice (Glycyrrhizae) clears heat and harmonizes the herbs in this formula.
