Isatidis, Radix (Chinese: ban lan gen) clears heat and reduces toxicity. It is used in China for treating influenza and other virus infections. Makes a soothing drink for sore throat, mumps, tonsillitis. Use 4.5-9 gm. Bring to a boil and boil vigorously for five minutes then turn down the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Drink one cup three times a day. Can be prepared a second time following the same instructions.
