Moutan, Cortex (Chinese: mu dan pi) is believed by Taoist herbalists to be very beneficial to the female fertility cycle. If used over a prolonged period of time it is supposed to strengthen the body and lengthen life. Moutan is also helpful for irritability, edginess, and tension. Traditionally, it clears heat and cools blood, invigorates blood, and clears ascending Liver fire. Use 6-12 grams.
